El otoño es mi época favorita del año. Se acerca el fin del año y las cosas parecen desacelerarse. Las películas otoñales siempre me recuerdan a los clásicos de los años 90, principalmente ambientados en Nueva York, cuando el mundo y la adultez parecían estables y garantizados. Esta lista incluye joyas como When Harry Met Sally y Autumn in New York, así como peliculas más alternativas y modernas como The Squid and the Whale y Juno, además de algunos clásicos como Three Days of the Condor, con la icónica actuación de Robert Redford. Autumn in New York
Como su nombre lo indica, esta película presenta paisajes hermosos del otoño NYC, con el color y la magia de la estación.
You’ve Got Mail
Meg Ryan y su librería en otoño son la definición de objetivos otoñales. Qué pena que ella se enamore de un jefe que quiere comprar su librería independiente, aunque él sea interpretado por Tom Hanks.
Sabrina
Con el éxito reciente de la serie The Summer I Turned Pretty, espero que algunos nuevos espectadores descubran la película, que inspiró en parte a la serie de Amazon Prime. Sabrina (1954), con Audrey Hepburn como la hija del conductor, narra un romance entre ella y dos hermanos ricos. La versión de 1995, con Julia Ormond, sigue la misma historia, pero quizás por su estreno en los 90, tiene un aire más otoñal y acogedor.
One Fine Day
Michelle Pfeiffer y George Clooney interpretan a padres solteros dedicados a sus hijos y a sus carreras. Es una película divertida y que me recuerda a las comedias “screwball” de los años 30, como las de Cary Grant y Katharine Hepburn.
An Affair to Remember
No hay nada mas hollywood que Deborah Kerr y Cary Grant en esta joya de los años 50. Se conocen en un crucero rumbo a Nueva York y pronto se enamoran. A pesar de estar comprometidos con otras personas, deciden encontrarse de nuevo, lo que resulta más difícil de lo que parece.
Saturday Night
Los años 70 siempre han tenido un feeling muy otoñal para mí, y esta película, situada en los inicios del show, Saturday Night, no es la excepción. Disfruta a las estrellas de hoy con suéteres cozy y bufandas rayadas.
The Devil Wears Prada
Andy Sachs: «¿Un poncho?» Nigel: «Tendrás lo que te dé, y te gustará.» Esta pelcula es perfecta para quienes quieren disfrutar de los mejores looks otoñales en Nueva York, mientras Andy corre por la ciudad con un café ardiente en mano para Miranda.
Peliculas de Época
Orgullo y Prejuicio
Algunos podrían decir que esta película de 2005 es de verano, pero la historia empieza y termina alrededor de Michaelmas, una fiesta cristiana que se celebra el 29 de septiembre, así que definitivamente es una película otoñal.
Little Women
Tanto la versión de Greta Gerwig de 2019 como la de Gillian Armstrong de 1995 son clásicas. Aunque yo diría que Mujercitas de 2019 es una película otoñal, mientras que la de los 90 tiene un aire más invernal.
La Bruja
Una de mis favoritas en el género «good for her». Esta joya de 2015, con Anya Taylor-Joy en uno de sus primeros papeles, muestra a una familia puritana exiliada en la Nueva Inglaterra del siglo XVII.
Rosaline
Rosaline trata de la historia de la ex de Romeo. Sí, Romeo, como en Romeo y Julieta. Esta comedia no se ambienta en una estación en particular; sin embargo, algo en las películas medievales siempre me ha recordado a principios de otoño. Si eres fan de la película, te recomiendo ver la serie Lady Jane, también disponible en Prime.
A Knight’s Tale
Al igual que la película anterior de esta lista, A Knight’s Tale no se centra en una estación específica (aunque el torneo final siocurre en otoño). Sin embargo, no pude evitar incluir esta divertida película de 2001 protagonizada por Heath Ledger.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. The end of the year approaches, and things slow down. Autumn movies always remind me of classic ’90s films, primarily set in New York City, when the world and adulthood seemed stable and guaranteed. This list includes such classics as When Harry Met Sally and Autumn in New York, as well as hipster darlings like The Squid and the Whale and Juno, along with classic films like Three Days of the Condor, starring the iconic Robert Redford. As this comprehensive list is quite long, we’ve divided it into three sections. Enjoy Part One and grab yourself a warm cup of cocoa!
Autumn in NYC
When Harry Met Sally
The comfy sweaters, walks along Central Park, cozy bookshops, and fluffy ’90s hair – this movie is an automanual classic for good reason. This movie follows Harry and Sally throughout the years as their friendship evolves and develops into something more.
Stepmom
This 90s tearjerker stars two legendary actresses, Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, as Mom and Stepmom in and around an autumnal New York.
Autumn in New York
As the name of the film implies, this movie features some beautiful shots of the autumn season.
You’ve Got Mail
Meg Ryan and her cozy bookstore in Autumn are the epitome of Autumnal goals. Too bad she falls for a boy boss who wants to buy out her independent business, even though he’s played by Tom Hanks.
Sabrina
With the recent success of the summer-focused series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, I hope a few eyes fall on the film, which loosely inspired the Amazon Prime series. Sabrina (1954) stars Audrey Hepburn as the chauffeur’s daughter who finds herself in a love triangle between two wealthy brothers. The 1995 version, starring Julia Ormond, follows the same story, but perhaps due to its mid-’90s release, it aligns better with cozy autumn vibes.
One Fine Day
Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney star as busy single parents navigating their children’s needs and work demands. The movie is a great time and reminds me of screwball comedies of the 1930s starring the likes of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn.
An Affair to Remember
Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant star as Nicky and Terry in this legendary 1950s film. The two leads meet aboard a cruise ship heading to New York and soon fall for each other. Despite both being engaged to different people, the couple decides to meet again, which proves harder than expected.
Saturday Night Live
The 1970s have always felt very autumnal to me, and this film, set in the early days of Saturday Night Live, is no exception. Enjoy today’s brightest stars decked out in sweaters, striped scarves, and fluffy hair galore!
The Devil Wears Prada
Andy Sachs: «A poncho?» Nigel: «You’ll take what I give you, and you’ll like it.» To be Andy Sachs running around NYC in fabulous fall favorites, rushing back to the office with Miranda’s steaming hot coffee!
Period Pieces
Pride and Prejudice
Some might argue that this 2005 film is a late-summer movie, but as the story starts and ends around the time of Michaelmas, a Christian festival celebrated around September 29, it is definitely a fall film.
Little Women
Both Greta Gerwig’s 2021 and Gillian Armstrong’s 1995 versions are holiday classics. Though I’d argue that the 2021 version is an autumn movie, while the 90s version is a winter movie.
The Witch
One of my favorite films in the niche genre of «Good for her.» This 2015 gem stars a young Anya Taylor-Joy as a member of a banished Puritan family in 17th-century New England.
Rosaline
Rosaline stars Kaityn Dever as Rome’s Ex. Yes, Romeo as in Romeo and Juliet. This comedic retelling isn’t set in a particular season; however, something about medieval films has always reminded me of the early fall season. If you’re a fan of the movie, I recommend watching the series Lady Jane, also available on Prime.
A Knight’s Tale
Much like the previous film on this list, A Knight’s Tale isn’t focused on a specific season (though the final tournament does take place in the fall). However, I couldn’t help but include this fun 2001 film starring Heath Ledger.
